After graduating from Troy University in 2014, with a Masters of Accountancy degree (MAcc), Jonathan Brooks worked for Jackson Thornton, a certified public accounting firm. But in 2016, he decided to join both his dad and brother, who worked for Liberty National Life Insurance Company (LNL).
“It’s so rewarding to work with my family watching people join our Company, grow, and become financially secure. And we do it while educating and helping our community. In times of need, LNL products provide financial assistance during periods of uncertainty, whether that is the death of a spouse or an unexpected illness like cancer,” states Jonathan.
Has Jonathan’s accounting background benefitted him at Liberty National as an Agency Owner? “My skillset is numbers. But numbers have no personality; people do. If each Agent knows what he or she wants to achieve personally, we can help and train each one on a case by case basis. I became an Agency Owner to influence and change the lives of people working at Liberty National and to show them how to bring out their untapped potential,” stresses Jonathan.
In addition to bringing out the best in others, Jonathan is proud of having promoted Agents to Agency Directors and to attaining personal Torch Club recognition for himself for several years.
Would he change anything if he could start over with LNL? “Nothing,” he states emphatically. “Every success and failure I’ve had as an Agent or in management I’ve used as a learning experience. Without some failure, goals can’t be reached. It’s what we managers do with failure that separates us from others,” he adds.
What’s Jonathan’s advice to new Agents joining the LNL family? “Come into it with an open mind and fully committed. Listen to the trainers and use every tool at your disposal. Our Agency offers you the opportunity to become a homeowner, provide for your children, and have a successful, long-term career,” he asserts.
Access to education is a focus for Jonathan and he supports the Wallace Community College Foundation in Dothan. “Not every person graduating high school is as fortunate as I was with parents who could afford to send me to college. Whatever time and money I can contribute to help younger people have a chance at higher education, I try to provide,” he affirms. He and his team also support local charity events.
In his free time, Jonathan enjoys golf, Crossfit, and “anything I can do on the outside,” he says. He’s also a fan of Alabama’s Crimson Tide, The Dallas Cowboys, and the Atlanta Braves.
