Hard work makes Roger Rich tick! While a fulltime college student at the University of North Alabama, Roger was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and worked two jobs. After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Management and Marketing in 1986, he embraced his opportunity of a lifetime with Globe Life Liberty National Division. Roger’s career has been in overdrive ever since!
Roger was Rookie Agent of the Year in 1988; was among the top 10 Agents in 1989; was promoted to Agency Director in 1989; and was among the top five Agency Directors in 1991, 1992, and 1993. In 1994, he was promoted to Agency Owner and named Liberty National Division’s Rookie Agency Owner in 1995. Roger was the number one Agency Owner in Division A in 1996, 1997, 1999, and 2001, and in 1998, was the number one Agency Owner in the entire Company. For three consecutive years, he was the number one Agency Owner in growth and qualified for the Council of Champions for six consecutive years. Roger joined the Home Office team in 2002, as a Regional Vice President and was the leading RVP in 2004 and 2005. He was promoted to Field Vice President in 2007, Senior Vice President in 2009, and Senior Vice President of Worksite Marketing in 2012.
What brought Roger to Liberty National Division originally? “It started in college,” he recalls. I took a freshman class where the teacher talked about different careers, including insurance, and said ‘Here’s a lucrative career very often overlooked by young people that allows you to go into business for yourself without startup capital.’ That planted the seed in me; I took all the insurance courses taught by a former insurance company vice president, who gave me the confidence to pursue an insurance career. I researched several companies and was personally recruited to Globe Life Liberty National Division,” adds Roger.
What’s been most rewarding for Roger since joining Liberty National Division goes far beyond personal recognition. “It’s been my ability to help clients,” he states. “Globe Life Liberty National Division products can ease worry and provide an infusion of cash for dealing with adverse financial consequences. Our supplements can help pay for lost wages, transportation, medication, or anything else resulting from an injury or illness. In addition, it’s also been my ability to help people transition and prosper in a career that fulfills and changes their lives financially. There is a point in our lives where we look for greater purpose in the things we do, especially when it comes to our employment. I found that since day one with Globe Life Liberty National Division,” he emphasizes.
What’s Roger’s advice to others thinking of joining the Liberty National Division family? “Our Agents are seen as educators and advisors and always help the customer,” he stresses. “If you always put the clients’ needs first, you will always be successful. Like Zig Ziglar says, ‘You will get all you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want.’ In addition, you have to be a selfless person, not a selfish person. You have to internalize the right attitude, approach, and the right belief system,” he continues.
After years of success with Globe Life Liberty National Division, Roger saw an opportunity to share his vast experience back in the field in a state he loves. “My Florida Agency provides an outstanding career path and the opportunity to make a great living, while maintaining a work/life balance. We provide leadership, a strong Company culture, and the ability to move up in leadership based on your own merit. We create a positive economic impact when we pay out a claim so people can stay in their homes, take care of their families, and provide an income if the breadwinner passes away,” he adds.
Since he’s been involved in Kiwanis International in the past, Roger is continuing that activity in Florida, though becoming an Agency Owner is his main focus. “I’m looking into more community involvement for my Agency’s team members. When people have time to pursue activities outside of work, like volunteering, it makes a difference in the community. Volunteering helps develop wisdom, builds empathy for others, connects you to humanity, and helps spread justice,” he believes.
Aside from work, Roger’s main interest is Alabama football. “I love Alabama Crimson Tide football and try to go to as many games, both home and away, as I can. In addition, I love its fall festival atmosphere and seeing old friends. I also love boating, fishing, and golfing. Most importantly, I love spending time with my three children,” he emphasizes.
